Department of Economics
The Department of Economics is one of the first academic departments of the college since its establishment in 2000. The department comprises two branches: General Economics, which awards a Bachelor of Science in Economics, and Financial and Banking Sciences, which awards a Bachelor of Science in Financial and Banking Sciences. Admission to the latter branch was discontinued after the establishment of the Department of Financial and Banking Sciences in 2010. In the academic year 2010–2011, the department had 357 students. The department also offers a Master’s degree in Economics.


The Department of Economics at the College of Administration and Economics – University of Tikrit aspires to be a leader in higher education and scientific research, contributing to the development of the Iraqi economy. It aims to play an active role in building a modern economy based on sound planning, appropriate economic policies, and the adoption of advanced scientific approaches in economic curricula.
